Working with people can be very demanding and stressful. Counsellors, psychotherapists, complementary therapists, group facilitators, trainers and others that work in the caring professions need somewhere to take issues with their work to enable them to work effectively with others. Often supervision is a requirement of professional bodies such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Supervision is an opportunity to look at the dynamics that affect our work. Whether these are about: individual clients, groups or organisations; institutional or team dynamics; issues of working with particular client groups; issues of race, sexuality, gender etc; your personal psychology; understanding them can help enormously to deepen and develop your work.
I have been working as a supervisor for a number of years with individuals as well as groups and staff teams. Through my experience of working on the University of Manchester’s Counselling MA I have an understanding of the process of training to be a counsellor and welcome students for supervision.
For more information, to discuss having supervision with me or to make an appointment to see me at my practice in Manchester, please phone me on 07958783185 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
